Faster and more precise automated tumor detection
A computer vision model automatically determines the precise extent of brain tumors in MRI images to refine and accelerate therapeutic decisions.

Challenge
In brain tumors, an accurate understanding of growth behavior is crucial for treatment decisions. However, doctors usually have to manually draw the extent of the tumors in MRI images, which is time-consuming.
Approach
As part of a pro bono project, the interdisciplinary team at Uniklinik Tübingen, together with the computer vision and biomedicine experts from statworx, developed a solution for this issue. The computer vision model accurately recognizes the spatial extension of tumors in MRI images. It allows medical professionals to assess the growth trajectory and establish appropriate therapy.
Result
Thanks to the statworx experts for computer vision, the interdisciplinary specialist team at Uniklinik Tübingen can now measure tumor images in three dimensions automatically. This increases the accuracy and, above all, the speed with which patients receive the correct diagnosis and treatment.
